Head : François Rouyer, Vice-Head : Martial Ruat

The "Systems Neurosciences" department aims at understanding brain architecture and function by investigating molecular and cellular networks. Biochemistry, neuropharmacology, neurogenetics and neurophysiology approaches are combined to analyze the mechanisms underlying neural functions in the vertebrates and invertebrates. A wide range of in vitro and in vivo experimental paradigms are developed to ask fundamental questions in normal situations and pathologies such as brain tumors or neurodegenerative disorders:

- How signaling pathways control the physiology and activity of neural cells ?

- How neurons establish connections and transmit information to generate functional networks ?

- How neuronal networks interact with environmental signals to control adaptative behaviors ?
