The Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (a brief presentation)

At Neuro-PSI, 350/400 scientific, support and ancillary staff work in 26 research groups and benefit from cutting edge platforms and core facilities. It will form, with its sister Institute NeuroSpin, the NeuroSaclay Center promoting Neuroscience at the highest international standards within the Paris-Saclay University. Neuro-PSI is jointly supported by Paris-Sud University (U-Psud) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS).

The Neuro-PSI research groups are working on fundamental questions about the development and evolution of the nervous system, on the construction, organization of neuronal networks and their physiology, on the neural bases od behaviours and cognitive functions, on concepts and theories on the organization and functions of the nervous system at all scales of analysis.

The Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (Neuro-PSI) has been created on the 1st of January 2015. It originates mostly from the merging of Research Units at the Institute of Neurobiology Alfred Fessard (Neurobiology & Development, UPR 3294, dir. Ph. Vernier, and UNIC, FRE3693, dir. Y. Fregnac/D. Shulz) and the Centre for Neuroscience Paris-Sud (UMR8195 CNRS-Université Paris Sud, dir. S. Laroche).

During the second semester of 2019, all the groups currently located in Gif-sur-Yvette and Orsay will move to Saclay, after the completion of the new building, on the campus of the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA), close to the NeuroSpin building, devoted to brain imaging and cognitive neuroscience.

Philippe Vernier, director of Neuro-PSI.
